The Local Governance Act ("LGA") amended the Representation of the People Act by insertion of the Eight Schedule within the latter Act. The preceding schedule provides for Local Government Elections as seen on page 46 of the LGA.

It should be noted, the Government of Jamaica postponed local government elections which were due last year by enacting the Representation of the People (Postponement of Elections to Municipal Corporations and City Municipalities) Act, 2020 ("2020 Act"). This 2020 Act provides for local government elections to be held by February 27, 2022.
