The JDC Around The World - Regionally and Beyond
The JDC’s experience in staging and organising political debates has been widely acknowledged regionally and internationally. One result of our reputation is that we have become a “go-to” organization for the provision of technical and advisory support to existing and potential debate-organizing groupings within the Caribbean region and beyond.
JDC team-members have taken part in technical and advisory missions to Guyana, Curacao, Antigua, St. Lucia, Barbados, Trinidad & Tobago, Haiti, Belize, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, and St. Kitts & Nevis. While, for a variety of reasons, political debates have only gotten off the ground in Guyana, Haiti, Curacao and Trinidad & Tobago, the liaison with like-minded individuals and organisations in those countries remains an ongoing component of its outreach efforts.
JDC team members have also been invited to provide similar technical support beyond the confines of the region. They have taken part in debate-organising missions to Peru, Kenya, Burundi, Niger, Malawi, East Timor, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Morocco, as well as in election observation missions to Ghana, Tunisia and Jordan.
The organisation has been pleased to welcome observers from Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago, the Dominican Republic and Tunisia to witness the back-office operations of the JDC as it staged political debates.
The JDC is also a proud founding member of Debates International, which brings together organisations from all corners of the world to share best practices and experiences, and has made numerous presentations during the stagings of its best practice symposia held in Washington in recent years.
